Planning and Sustainability of the Energy Sector

The area of ​​concentration in Planning and Sustainability of the Energy Sector addresses strategic aspects of generating, transmitting and using energy in a sustainable manner, both from the point of view of public policies and from the point of view of companies operating in the sector. Technical, economic, logistical, social, environmental and legal aspects are taken into account, always with a view to minimizing aggression to the environment.

 

This area of ​​concentration is divided into three lines of research:

 

  1.   Energy Resources

Aimed at the study of renewable natural resources (water, wind, waves, currents and tides) as sources of energy. Analysis of the energy potential in coastal marine environments. Evaluation and mapping of the energy potential in drainage basins. Use of resources, environment, sustainability and social involvement.

 

  1.   Management and Sustainability

This line includes historical and economic aspects, international, national and regional public policies focused on energy management and their interrelations, institutional aspects and legislation on energy resources. It analyzes the governance of the public management model, the energy regulatory agencies, as well as the integration of policies with the concept of economic and socio-environmental sustainability.

 

  1. Environmental Impacts of the Energy Sector

This line focuses on: techniques for assessing the environmental impacts caused by the extraction of energy resources and the generation, distribution and use of energy; techniques for preventing, minimizing and remediating impacts.
